Angelina Jolie and the 50-carat diamond scorpion
A black Versace dress and a 50-carat diamond and platinum scorpion brooch with gold details on the body and black diamonds on the lower part and at the ends of the legs. Angelina designed this extravagant piece of jewellery with famous Los Angeles jeweller Robert Procop, and this scorpion brooch, along with the spider-shaped brooch worn a short time before by the President of the British Supreme Court, Lady Hale, led to a kind of series of special jewels that are well-suited to her most recent film, “Maleficent”.
According to the jewellery designer, the scorpion brooch is not currently on sale but could be auctioned for charity in the future, as has happened in the past with some pieces from the Style of Jolie collection, donated to raise funds to build schools for children all over the world.
This scorpion also recalls the other piece from the collection, The Jolie Citrine Necklace, an exceptional jewel with 64 citrine quartzes, one of which is a 177.11-carat pear-shaped stone, donated in 2015 to the Smithsonian Institution in Washington.
At the premiere of “Maleficent’, the actress’ daughter, Zahara Jolie-Pitt, made her debut, wearing a jewel designed with Robert Procop for the Zahara Collection. It is a coordinated set that includes a bracelet, earrings and ring. The limited edition collection features jewellery with white and rose quartz and pink sapphires. The proceeds will go to the Los Angeles House of Ruth shelters, which have provided housing for abused women and children.
